Attends high-risk deliveries requiring expertise in delivery room resuscitation and stabilization, counsel families prior to delivery regarding anticipated events.
Practices safety, environmental, and / or infection control methods.
Assists in the management of neonatal patients and provides back-up support to the consultant.
Evaluate new admission and coordinate with senior staff a plan of investigation to establish a diagnosis and a management course.
Follows all assigned patients and write progress and decisions made clinical findings, laboratory results, assessment and decisions made during ward rounds.
History taking, physical examinations, interpretation, common diagnostic tests patient care with senior staff and maintaining accurate and clear medical records.
NICU registrar should seek the advice of or help of the senior staff whenever the condition of a patient merits further expertise.
Performing diagnostic or therapeutic procedures to his / her patients in his field of specialty as per the privileges granted.
To ensure consistent medical treatment of patients by working in accordance with agreed protocols and achieve medical continuity of care for the Patients.
Notifies attending physician on call, or supervising physician regarding any unusual or unexpected events or problems requiring direct physician consultation.
Carries out on call duties in the hospital.
Present cases at team grand round and morning meeting when required.
Attends clinics of the assigned consultants when requited.
Prepares discharge summaries, death reports and special reports on related patients.
Respond immediately to clinical emergencies within all departments in the hospital and in the absence of a more experienced medical practitioner, lead the resuscitation team during emergency situations.
In an emergency, undertake emergency investigations and procedures in accordance with hospital policies and protocols and / or as directed by the patient’s consultant.
Prescribe medicines to take home in accordance with consultant instructions and / or protocol.
Comply with the hospital’s consent and confidentiality policy.
Actively participates in department and hospital educational and training activities.
To facilitate own training under the supervision of head of department and chief medical officer, in accordance with hospital requirements, best practice, and Riyadh Hospital Policies & Procedures and protocols.
To take responsibility for CME and documentation of activity in support of revalidation.
Abides by the Medical Staff Bylaws, Code of Medical Ethics, Rules and Regulations of the Medical Staff, and accreditation standards such as MOH, SCFHS, SFDA, CBAHI, JCI, etc.
Ensuring that Islamic Values and Medical Ethics are respected and strictly observed.
Qualification & Experience Requirements
3 rd category credential according to the SCFHS such as Saudi clinical diploma, Arab Board, Jordanian Board or post-graduate certificate, Syrian Board, General Pediatric Board, or specialty certificate, Egyptian Master, etc.
Experience in the same field after the credential with a minimum of 2 years or according to the SCFHS regulations. For subspecialties, the physician should have fulfilled the required training.
Current Registration in the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties, as a Registrar, is highly preferred.
BLS and NRP certification depending on the specialty is highly required.
