SQL Database Support Engineer

Overview We are seeking a SQL Database Support Engineer to assist in monitoring, maintaining, and supporting database operations. The role involves executing basic SQL queries, performing routine maintenance, and collaborating with senior DBAs to ensure database health and performance.

Responsibilities

Perform basic SQL queries : SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE and simple JOIN operations.

Monitor database health, including backups, basic performance metrics, and issue detection.

Support routine tasks : user access management, data integrity checks, and backup / restoration activities.

Assist in capacity monitoring, documentation (runbooks), and incident logging.

Escalate complex issues promptly according to protocols.

Work closely with senior DBAs for troubleshooting and guidance.

Qualifications

Basic knowledge of relational databases (MySQL, SQL Server, PostgreSQL).

Understanding of schemas, table relationships, indices, and primary / foreign keys.

Fundamentals of backup, recovery, and performance tuning.
