Quality Assurance - The Proactive Approach This part of the role is about
preventing defects
before they happen.
Developing Standards :
Establishes and implements a Quality Management System (QMS) based on international standards like ISO 9001 and local electrical codes (e.g., Saudi Building Code, IEC standards).
Documentation and Review :
Reviews electrical designs, drawings, and material submittals to ensure they comply with project requirements and specifications.
Process Control :
Creates checklists and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for electrical installation activities like cable pulling, terminations, and equipment installation.
Supplier Evaluation :
Assesses and qualifies suppliers of electrical materials and equipment (e.g., cables, switchgear, transformers) to ensure they meet quality standards.
Quality Control - The Reactive Approach This part of the role is about
identifying and correcting defects
during and after installation.
Inspections and Testing :
Conducts regular site inspections of ongoing electrical work. This includes checking conduit installation, cable tray routing, wiring terminations, and grounding systems.
Material Verification :
Inspects incoming electrical materials to ensure they are the correct type, free from damage, and have the proper certifications.
Witnessing Tests :
Oversees and documents critical electrical tests, such as insulation resistance (megger) testing, continuity tests, and high-potential (HiPot) testing.
Non-Conformance Reporting :
Identifies and documents any work that does not meet quality standards, issuing Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and ensuring corrective actions are taken.
Final Walkthrough :
Participates in the final inspection and commissioning of electrical systems to ensure everything is operating safely and according to design before the project is handed over to the client.
Qualifications and Skills Education :
Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited university.
Experience :
A minimum of 0-1 years of experience, preferably within the electrical contracting or power construction industry.
Technical Skills :
Strong knowledge of engineering principles, practices, and standards.
Familiarity with electrical infrastructure projects is a significant advantage.
Soft Skills :
Excellent project management and organizational skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Certifications :
Professional Engineer (PE) certification or equivalent is preferred.
Saudi Council of Engineers Membership.
