Overview
Senior Project Engineer role at International Maritime Industries. The Senior Project Engineer must be capable to plan, coordinate, and monitor a major project (or any given part) across all EPC phases, with particular focus on Safety, Quality, Cost and Schedule. They play a key supporting role to the Project Manager to ensure the efficient and effective day-to-day execution of major projects or to act as project in-charge for more minor projects, packages or parts of major projects. Sr Project Engineers must be able to show independent initiative, decision making skills and strong leadership capabilities.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead a team for the part / s of the project for which responsibility is given to achieve high performance in safety, quality, schedule and cost compliance
- Coordinate, prepare, implement, upgrade, improve and manage any required project related processes and procedures and execution plans
- Prepare, submit, monitor and control project technical queries and all technical aspects of the project across all interfaces
- Drive towards cost / schedule opportunities and liaise with the project manager on potential risks and mitigations
- Utilise the risk management system, the risk register and the respective responsibilities assigned
- Involvement in procurement processes as needed to ensure smooth flow of procurement engineering through to purchase, expediting and delivery
- Monitor all elements of work execution and provide input to the planning department; manage adjustments to keep the scope on track
- Monitor schedule activities to achieve on-time results including follow up with external sub-contractors and suppliers
- Investigate labour and other productivity variances; report to the project manager and participate in resolutions
- Liaise with the subcontract department to ensure project budgetary and schedule objectives are met
- Liaise with suppliers, vendors and subcontractors to ensure smooth integration of services with IMI production; in some cases, act as sub-contract manager and be responsible for delivery management of a sub-contractor
- Ensure compliance with all applicable information security policies & procedures
- Stand in for the project manager during holidays or absence
- Ensure all project activities are carried out in accordance with IMI policies and procedures
Requirements
Education : Degree / professional qualification in a relevant discipline.
Professional Qualifications : PMP project management or similar courses are beneficial, but not essential.
Competencies : Demonstrated experience managing offshore oil and gas projects, preferably with jackup drill rig construction and delivery experience.
Experience : At least 12 years’ experience
