Overview The General Ledger (GL) and Payroll Senior Accountant is responsible for managing and maintaining the integrity of the general ledger, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and overseeing end-to-end payroll processing. This role plays a key part in the monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes and ensures compliance with internal policies and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations for general ledger accounts.
Maintain accurate and complete financial records in accordance with IFRS.
Assist in the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
Reconcile bank accounts, intercompany accounts, and other balance sheet accounts.
Assist with internal and external audits by providing documentation and explanations.
Support budgeting and forecasting processes by providing accurate GL data and variance analysis.
Prepare financial reports and presentations for management and external reporting.
Oversee accurate and timely processing of multi-state payroll for employees (and / or global payroll if applicable).
Ensure compliance with local payroll laws and regulations.
Review and reconcile payroll reports and registers.
Coordinate with HR on employee status changes, benefits, and deductions.
Prepare and file payroll reports and payroll tax returns, if applicable.
Maintain payroll records and handle confidential payroll data with discretion.
Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll issues and discrepancies.
Assist with internal and external audits by providing documentation and explanations.
Collaborate with HR, Finance, and IT teams to ensure data accuracy and system integration.
Improve processes and internal controls around payroll and GL accounting.
Participate in system upgrades and implementations related to payroll or accounting software.
Qualifications
At least two (2) years of working experience as senior role accountant with relevant accounting and payroll experience, preferably in a mid to large-sized company
Big four (4) auditing experience as senior auditor level is an advantage
Attention to detail and accuracy
Professional certification such as ACCA, SOCPA, CPA, or equivalent is preferred
Proficiency in accounting and payroll software
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools such as Microsoft excel
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Strong leadership and team management abilities
