Position Overview
Under the direction of the CSSD Head, the CSSD Technician processes reusable items through the decontamination, sorting, wrapping, sterilizing, distribution and storing procedures. Responsible for routine technical tasks in each work area of CSSD for production and delivery of safe instruments, supplies, and equipment for patient care delivery. Works flexibly and cooperatively while always following Riyadh National Hospital Policies and Procedures and reflecting the Mission, Vision and Objectives of the Nursing Department and Hospital.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Practice in a manner which is always client centered and fitting to an excellent Private Hospital, reinforcing the impression that the hospital regards the client (patient / family) as the focal recipient of excellent care, respect, friendly communication and professional behavior
- Practice in a manner which promotes positive image of nursing and hospital to patients, family and visitors.
- Take immediate action to resolve or clear any negative impression, complaint or distress expressed in any way by the patient or family

Collect or receive contaminated instruments and equipment from all hospital areasCheck all items received and log them inPerform routine procedures in Decontamination Area, sort contaminated items and thoroughly clean routine surgical instruments and equipment following manufacturers' instructions and established guidelines for effective bio-burden removalInspect instrumentation for surface corrosion and test for working conditionAssemble and package basic instrument sets and routine procedural trays using the Operating Manual and AAMI recommended packaging materials and techniquesLoad and unload sterilizer chambers without damage to the integrity of packages, according to Operating Manual procedures and AAMIReport any missing items, and where appropriate, assist in completing OVR reportRecommends to the CSSD Manager and Area Manager instrument that needs to be condemned and replaced.Soft wrap and sterilize medical instruments and equipmentCheck all sterilizers to ensure they are working correctly using Bowie-Dick and biological testingInspect and de-lint freshly laundered linen when received from the laundry serviceFold and assemble basic linen itemsTransport single–use supplies and sterile items to patient treatment areas according to Infection Control Policy and Operating Manual proceduresAnswer requests from ORReceive and clean utility pans and basins from patient care areasAssist in checking supply levels and delivery areasReliability

A minimum of :
Certification in CSSD specialty from recognized organizationTwo (2) years in C.S.S.D. in an acute care hospitalMinimum of four (4) years O.R. experience in an acute care hospitalSkills
