Skills Laboratory Custodian

Principal Duties

Responsible for all laboratory items and obligation for the maintenance of the laboratory, and ensure the lab is stocked and prepared for use with the required items and supplies. Preparing labs before each section, ensuring cleanliness and tidiness of the lab, setting up the laboratory for practice sessions based on instructions from Teaching Assistants, and closing the lab at the end of each day. Create and maintain inventory lists for all disposable and non-disposable laboratory items by creating a log book and producing a monthly report of used versus ordered items. Maintain records of all borrowed / lent items, by filling in forms for any items requested from outside the laboratory and follow-ups with the return of items to perform a reconciliation. Assist when requested in teaching students the safe handling of laboratory. Perform cleaning and maintenance tasks for models / mannequins and equipment as directed and supervised, and request assistance from a medical engineer when necessary. Immediately report and document the malfunctioning of any lab equipment and request for the replacement or repair of damaged equipment, furniture and material as needed. Follow and adhere to KSAU-HS Policy and Procedures related to fire and electrical safety, infection control and hazardous materials. Provide assistance and guidance to students, faculty members, and staff in navigating lab facilities, and conducting demonstration sessions for students during laboratory training. Performs other job related duties as required.
