Consultant Psychiatrist (Saudi National)

Overview

Consultant Psychiatrist (Saudi National) at Aspris by alkalma. Evaluates, diagnoses, and manages a caseload through assessment, planning, and implementation of therapeutic interventions (pharmacological as well as psychological). Prescribes psychotherapeutic treatments or medications to treat mental, emotional, or behavioral disorders, according to patient needs and local therapeutic guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Assess and analyze mental health status across different age groups and recommend interventions to the centre’s multidisciplinary team.
• Conduct risk assessments with history taking.
• Gather and maintain patient information and records (social, medical and mental history) from patients, relatives, and other professionals.
• Use a variety of techniques to help patients reach resolutions or develop strategies to address concerns.
• Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team of health professionals.
• Ensure interventions, treatments and recommendations comply with Ministry of Health regulations.
• Assist Medical Director with patients’ admission to mental health hospitals when required.
• Order tests or investigations to provide information on general physical and mental conditions for best-case management and follow-up.
• Conduct one-to-one and group counselling services as needed.
• Build rapport with patients and provide effective counselling and feedback on progress.
• Inform guardians, relatives, and significant others of patients\' conditions and treatment with patient consent.
• Examine or conduct laboratory or diagnostic tests to inform about general physical condition and mental disorder.
• Refer clients to other healthcare professionals where appropriate.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge in the field through CPD courses, scientific meetings, and workshops.
• Attend team meetings, supervision sessions, and training as required by the centre.
• Adhere to patient confidentiality as outlined in the employment contract.
• Participation in site Medical Director appraisal in line with Aspris by alkalma policy.
• Perform other duties as delegated in line with service provision.
