An inventory accountant is responsible for monitoring and recording all inventory transactions. They ensure the accuracy of inventory data, conduct audits, and prepare reports for management.

Responsibilities

• Record all inventory transactions in the accounting system.
• Monitor inventory levels, conduct audits and reconciliations, and correct discrepancies to ensure accuracy.
• Prepare inventory reports, including valuation, variance analysis, and cost of goods sold.
• Analyze inventory trends and suggest process improvements.
• Collaborate with purchasing, manufacturing, and sales departments for accurate inventory forecasting and planning.
• Manage and report on inventory-related expenses such as freight and storage costs.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies for inventory accounting.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
• Minimum of two years of experience in inventory accounting.
• Familiarity with accounting software and inventory management systems.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to visit branches as needed.
